ARMOR-IIMAK debuts solution for thermal transfer printing
AWR XL has been designed for flat-head printers and traditional applications such as logistics, retail, and shipping.
ARMOR-IIMAK, a global supplier of thermal transfer ribbon technology, has launched AWR XL, a new wax ribbon. According to the company, this product redefines the standards of sustainability, performance, and efficiency in thermal transfer label printing.
After its official launch last month, ARMOR-IIMAK is showcasing AWR XL at Labelexpo Europe 2025 in Barcelona. The company designed AWR XL for flat-head printers and traditional applications such as logistics, retail, and shipping. It delivers a combination of eco-conscious innovation and operational excellence, setting a new benchmark in the wax ribbon category.
ARMOR-IIMAK says AWR XL is the first wax ribbon to feature a 100% solvent-free formulation, including the backcoat, and is manufactured using an ultra-thin 3.35µm PET film—the thinnest in the industry. This launch results in:
- Up to 26% less plastic waste
- 830g of CO₂ emissions saved per roll
- Significant reductions in packaging and core waste
These features make AWR XL a compelling solution for companies seeking to align with growing environmental regulations and sustainability goals.
Positioned alongside AWR 1 and AWR 8, AWR XL strengthens ARMOR-IIMAK’s wax ribbon portfolio, offering distributors and partners a differentiated, value-added solution in a traditionally price-driven market.
“AWR XL is more than a product launch—it’s a statement of our commitment to innovation and sustainability,” explains Yohann Froment, senior VP of marketing, ARMOR-IIMAK. “We’re proud to offer a ribbon that not only meets the performance expectations of our customers but also supports their environmental goals.”
